Era una muchacha de las periferias de Guayaquil, la recuerdo bien, de complexidad liviana, alta, flaca, su piel cobriza y sus ojos de un café muy intenso, su cabellera larga, y ondulada que el viento bamboleaba, su nariz aguileña y sus labios gruesos combinaban bien con su rostro, me inspiró mucha confianza y desde ese momento entabla una buena amistad con ella, su nombre era Raquel.

Lo que más me impresionó de ella, al igual que muchas de las mujeres que conocí de las periferias en Guayaquil era su escasa ambición de lograr muchas cosas en la vida, un conformismo muy marcado en sus vidas, y simplemente pensaban en conseguir un esposo para que las mantuviera, Raquel era así, y eso me causo una profunda tristeza y decepción.  

Un día cuando fuimos al cine con algunos amigos, era muy tarde para que Raquel regresara al Guasmo donde vivía, así que le invite a que se quedara en mi casa, tuvimos la más grande conversación de nuestras vidas, me contó que su padre murió muy viejo, vivía con su madre, hermano mayor y la familia de él, en la casa que su papa les había dejado, finalizo sus estudios secundarios, y estudio costura en un centro nocturno de Guayaquil, trabajaba en una casa de modas a medio tiempo, la religión fue una gran salvación para ella, ya que tenía una gran tristeza, su hermano quería que ella se casara y fuera a vivir lejos, pero a sus 32 años no había logrado encontrar a ningún hombre, su madre y familiares le decían varias veces que se quedaría solterona para vestir santos.

Entonces pude decirle que a la edad que yo tenía 26 en ese tiempo, gracias al apoyo de mis padres, había logrado salir adelante, yo nací con insuficiencia cerebral mínima, con cuatro lesiones de espalda y muchas veces ni siquiera creían que lograría estudiar la universidad, recibí terapias de lenguaje aun a un año de terminar la universidad y siempre sabia que la vida seria corta para mí, me case y tuve un hijo, pero nunca me rendí, a tal punto que logre estudiar en una universidad en Costa Rica, viajar a medio oriente y Europa, y aprender varios idiomas, el mejor concejo que le pude dar fue que estudiara, que leyera, y se preparara en la vida, una carrera en la universidad estatal como mínimo serían cuatro años de estudio, y que ahorrara lo mas que pueda.

Han pasado ya seis años desde que la volví a ver, viaje a Guayaquil y Raquel había terminado su carrera de parvulario, trabaja en un jardín de infantes privado, gana mucho más que su hermano, y tiene excelentes ahorros, además que conoció a un israelí con el cual se casara a finales del próximo año, no solo conversamos de la vida, conversamos de muchos libros que ella lee, un mundo nuevo que conoció, doy gracias a Dios por ella, nunca imagine que esos concejos serían tan útiles.
